Bardiya National park

Bardiya National Park (also spelled Bardia) is Nepal’s largest and one of its wildest national parks, tucked away in the far-western Terai lowlands near the Indian border.

The park spreads across vast sal forests, open grasslands, riverine woodlands, and floodplains shaped mainly by the Karnali and Babai rivers. Because it’s less visited and more remote than parks like Chitwan, Bardiya feels raw and untouched—perfect for people who want a true jungle experience.

It’s especially famous for its Royal Bengal tigers, offering some of the best chances in Nepal to spot them in the wild. The park is also home to one-horned rhinoceroses, wild elephants, leopards, sloth bears, swamp deer, and many other mammals. Aquatic life includes gharials, mugger crocodiles, and the rare Gangetic river dolphin, while birdlife is exceptional, with 400+ species recorded.
