Chitwan National Park

Located in the southern lowlands (Terai region), it covers dense forests, grasslands, rivers, and wetlands. The park is best known for its rich wildlife, especially the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, gharial and mugger crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species.

Chitwan was declared Nepal’s first national park in 1973 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Rapti, Narayani, and Reu rivers flow through the park, shaping its ecosystem and supporting both wildlife and local communities.

Visitors can enjoy activities like: Jungle safaris (jeep or canoe), Bird watching , Nature walks , Tharu cultural programs

Chitwan National Park is special because it shows a very different side of Nepal—hot, green, and wild, far from the snowy Himalayas—making it a must-visit destination for nature and wildlife lovers.
